Home Generators

Red barn service generator

When the power goes out here it is usually the worst possible week for it — an ice storm in January, or a line down in a July thunderstorm with the well pump and the sump pump both dead. A standby generator starts on its own, transfers the house over in about half a minute, and runs until the utility comes back. You do not have to be home for it to work.

We are a Generac dealer and we do the whole job in-house — the load calculation, the pad, the gas piping and connections, the transfer switch, the permit and inspection, start-up and load testing, and the maintenance afterward. No sub-contracted electrician, and in most cases no waiting on a separate gas fitter to show up before your generator can run.

What size do I actually need?

Most of the houses we back up land between 14kW and 26kW. The honest answer depends on three things: whether you heat with LP, natural gas or electric; whether you have a well; and whether you want the whole house or only the circuits that matter. We run the numbers before we quote — there is no guessing and no upsell to a bigger unit than the house needs.

Generator Size & Price Estimator

Answer 5 quick questions to get a ballpark size and price for your home standby generator.

Whole-Home Standby

Everything comes back on — heat, water, kitchen, laundry, the works. Simplest to live with, and what most people pick after sitting through one long outage.

Portable Generator Hookup

Already own a portable? We install a proper inlet and interlock so you can power the house safely — no cords through a window and no backfeeding the line crew.

Critical Load Systems

A smaller unit and a dedicated load center for the furnace or boiler, well pump, sump pump, refrigerator, freezer, a few lights and any medical equipment.

Generac PowerCell Battery Storage

Home battery backup that covers the short outages silently and instantly, and pairs with a standby generator so the battery takes the brief hits and the generator handles the multi-day ones.

Generator Service & Maintenance

A standby generator is an engine sitting outside doing nothing eleven months a year, and the number one reason one fails during an outage is a dead battery. We service every brand, not just the ones we sell — and we finish with a full transfer test, because picking the house up off the utility is the part that actually has to work.

Generators get the same 24/7 service as everything else we do. An outage does not wait for Monday morning, and neither do we. We stock the common air-cooled parts, so most repairs get finished on the first trip instead of turning into a week-long wait on a part.

Why homeowners around here call us

We are licensed for both electrical and HVAC. That matters more on a generator job than people expect — the load calculation lives or dies on how your heat, A/C and well are wired, and we are the ones who work on all of it. Calls and messages are answered 24/7 with a technician on call for emergencies.
